Story Behind the Cake: Castle Cake

My cousin Jade, 11 had a project that she had to do for school involving castles.  As part of the project, she wanted to make a castle cake and as I made cakes she wanted me to help.  She sketched out the design of cake, and insisted that she wanted to do the majority of the decorating.  No problem, I thought less work for me.  I made the cakes - a madeira cake and an orange chocolate marble cake.  I covered the cakes in green sugarpaste.  Jade made the castle out of rice krispies treats and covered them with grey sugarpaste.  She made a fence out of chocolate orange MatchMakers and dyed piping gel blue to make water.

This is how it turned out:

Castle Cake

She got an A for her project and the plus side was that it was edible!!
